'The World Upon My Shoulders'

This is a picture of the Hercules Statue installed at the piazza in the grounds of Portmeirion Estate near Porthmadog in North Wales.

Portmeirion Estate was the archictectural dream of Bertram Clough Williams-Ellis, (1883-1978).

The statue of Hercules, which Clough purchased in Edinburgh, was duly towed on his trailer the 320 miles back to Portmeirion.
