Phoenix decided to have a bath today. She ran in and out of her pie dish for a while, then had her usual post-bath preen. She has to make sure that her tummy, tail and wing feathers are just right...
... and a big job it is. I love the composition here. Wish I could see her cleaning her tail feathers - I love it when they pull the longest feather through their beaks right to the tip, and then it snaps back into place.
I never get tired of these beautiful birds! Yesterday, I thought of you and your beauties....as I was on a walk, posted on a sign was a picture of a missing bird similar to yours, but not as gorgeous, of course. I felt so sad because yesterday was gorgeous, but overnight, the temp will drop a lot! Hope he was found.
