Magic and Phoenix came into our lives a few years apart. Magic had been handraised and is very used to people, happy to clamber all over them. Phoenix joined us a couple of years later. We're not completely sure of her background, but we think she'd been used as a breeder, probably kept with several other parrots who weren't handled. As such, she's very nervous around hands, and was originally just very nervous full stop.
Magic is playful and friendly, sociable and attention seeking. Phoenix is more sophisticated and sedate, standoffish and self-amusing. Despite their personalities, we think they're friends - they often talk to each other and mimic each other, even if they're still quite nervous of getting too close. Given that when Phoenix first joined us they didn't like being in the same room as each other, they seem to be pretty good friends now.
And I'll bet they keep you hopping with their chatter--haha. Very cute photo, they look like they have lots to keep them busy and good that they're friends!
@vernabeth They would normally lay eggs, if boy birds were around. We actually work quite hard to avoid them laying eggs (keeping the house dark at nights, not stroking their wings/back etc.) as there are a lot of complications that can come from egg laying.
These are beautiful. I need to get some of my birds pictures up, but have not yet. I used to live with 12, but now limit it to a Green wing macaw and a double below headed amazon
