Not tornadoes

How creepy is this. We lost power for about an hour when a transformer got struck by lightning. When we got our power back and checked the weather report, these formations are called "shelf clouds."
Ohhhh .... they're kind of scary!! What a great capture ..love the cloud formations and the clarity of each one. Great collage.

We arte getting the storms now, and the rain has come, finally, and the temperatures dropped a good 10 degrees. The lawn and flowers are singing their hearts out.

I've heard of them, but I've never seen them! Really ominous looking! Glad your power didn't stay out too long!

Great shot. I hear the clouds where tornados form are called wall clouds.

Nice collage. Very dramatic captures of the clouds.

Great looking collage..did these dark clouds bring some rain or are they called shelf clouds for a reason?

@bruni According to wikipedia A shelf cloud is attached to the base of the parent cloud, which is usually a thunderstorm, and usually appears on the leading edge of a storm. We did have a soaking rain although it only lasted for an hour.

They sure do look ominous! We did have a nice downpour yesterday, but no shelf clouds! I guess I'm not too disappointed by that! Nice collage!
