Watching a Lake Freighter come into the Soo Locks

A 1000 ft. Great Lakes freighter approaching the Soo Locks at sunset. The observation deck at the Soo Locks is a popular spot for ship watching. The locks allow the ships to make the 21 foot drop between Lake Superior and Lake Huron. The bridge in the photo leads to Canada from the Michigan side.
Intersting photo, that must be some volume of water to move to get those big ships in and out of the locks

Great POV. Magnificent how we can move huge amounts of water to move a big boat/ship, Love those arch bridges in the background. Wonderful that we can see the sluice gate in front. fav

I'll be there Thursday for Engineers Day where you can walk across two locks and see the old admin buildings. It is an intriguing place. Nice shot with the lighter sky areas framed by the bridge.
