Kurri Kurri - Steptoe Antiques and Old Wares

The Kurri Kurri Murals are a project of Towns With Heart Inc, a small community group working in the area of Kurri Kurri and the surrounding villages of Abermain, Stanford Merthyr, Weston, Heddon Greta, Pelaw Main and Neath. The Mural program was initiated in an effort to address the local level of unemployment and to facilitate local business growth and development.

In 2003 the group decided to undertake a ‘Mural Project' with the aim of getting more of the thousands of cars that pass through the town, to stop and see what Kurri Kurri has to offer.

The town now has over 50 murals showcasing the areas history, heritage and uniqueness. Visitors travel to Kurri Kurri on buses and in cars to see the magnificent murals and undertake a tour by one of our local guides.
THAT's impressive! Good for the entrepreneurial townsfolk! Now it's not just "stopping the curious" as they drive by, but welcoming the curious who come by the busload! Very savvy, and I'd absolutely plan a trip there as well!
