My friend received the nickname "lil' Triz" from a friend, along with a rapper-style necklace. This... is not that necklace. The original was made of cardboard, the "chain" was gold ribbon, and it was held together with staples.
It was cute, I liked the artwork, and I've got a band saw, so I scanned the original into my computer, fixed it up a bit in Photoshop, printed templates out, and went to work at the saw.
I used scrap wood and leftover spray paint. The only thing I had to buy is $1.60 worth of plastic chain from the hardware store. The chain is attached with hot glue. The whole thing was based out in black spray paint, then dusted with gold spray paint.
I probably spend too much time on this, but it was cheap, and it made her happy, so mission accomplished, I guess.
