Farewell, expensive new Mech. by batfish

Farewell, expensive new Mech.

Farewell, new mech. I've been happily photographing toys in the $20 - $35 range for a while. I recently decided to step up and spend more money on this more expensive one.

I've always been disappointed with the flexibility and poseability of some of my action figures. I figured spending more money would get me better quality. Instead I got the same quality, but more of it. This guy cost $95.

I'd paint job is great. I love the individually articulated fingers, but he can barely hold the sword with them. The ratcheting arm and leg joints are quit stiff and hold a pose well, but the armor panels interfere with each other when you try to bend them. I hopped for better, for $95. He's boxed up for return first thing on Monday.

Oh what a shame that the quality was not there. I always enjoy your photos. You are very creative.

A lot of money for a model but if it’s what you want, it’s money well spent. I think the problem is it’s a compromise between detail, strength, flexibility and cost. Add in your specific requirements for your interesting series of photographs, it’s harder still.

Mark - @markp - sums up the dilemma perfectly.... glad we got to see it before it went back though.
