desert park

Final overview of South Mountain Park on the edge of the city. I used to come hiking here quite frequently, but I've been avoiding it the last couple of years because I hate to see the condition the desert is in. Coming here is always a heavy dose of reality.
Lovely view

it's been such an education to see how severe things are there. I can't imagine how hard it has been to document this.

I love your landscape capture. We have been hearing about the poor condition of those legacy saguaro and other desert plants.

Love the layers. This shows that how delicate the desert truly is.

The sky is stunning, but it must be so hard to watch the changes.
Happy New Year to you - hope it brings some light for all of us.

You series of desert shots are very sad. I hope these native plant will fight back and survive in their land. Wish you a happy 2024.

gorgeous!! My husband and I are considering going to Arizona in the future for vacation. We are both photographers and I am wondering if you have any recommendations within a reasonable drive from Phoenix (other than the grand canyon)

@myhrhelper There's everything within reach. It all depends what time of year you want to visit. The desert is never a good option outside of winter, but Arizona has a lot of high country and alpine-like meadows for the other seasons.

I really like your monthly themes. This series about how fragile the desert and its flora are is an impressive piece of photojournalism and quite disturbing.

@7oaks_pikachu thanx! It's the sad truth of how I see the world around me.

It's such a beautiful view...I don't know what the conditions are and how they've been changing, but we took an Arizona/NM trip a few years back and I was amazed at just how beautiful that part of our country is.
