Bullsnake?

I saw this big snake right in the middle of the road right before the campground so I pulled over and got out to shoo him out of the road. Went back to get my camera and he was already nearly hidden in the leaves. I had to lay down for this one and I was really hoping he'd stay put and he actually backed up and disappeared. Took this yesterday.

What a good thing to do - and not something some people do. I must admit I would think twice before getting face to face with one of our snakes - but I found out that he is non-venomous - and he looks quite delightful. :)

You must know your snakes VERY well to get this shot. We have rattle snakes in my area that might look close to this. Excellent capture.
