Blinding by bmnorthernlight

Blinding

It is still blowing a gale and spitting down now and again. Headed towards the coast - no idea why I thought that would be a good place in those gales! Went back to some ever so slightly eerie steps near the fish market in North Shields. At least they were partially sheltered. During my first attempt at a different spot it had nearly blown the car door off and I was blown a full two steps backwards trying to reach the car again after giving up...

Thank you all so much for all the comments on my calendar shot! Maybe I have inspired some of you to make calendars for your family or friends - the awesome shots I see every day form all of you would be amazing to have in a calendar!! I do really appreciate all the time everyone takes to comment. Please do let me know if you'd rather not have a thank you comment back. I appreciate that it might be getting a bit much for some of you to be drowned in notifications :-)

The reflected light is superb! I have in mind something like that but have not been able to find the right spot to achieve something similar. There's so much in those few tones

@woot Thank you! I loved the textures on that door. The lacquer is actually dark blue but the light made everything the same shade.

Love the light and tones, I don't mind Barbara what ever is more convenient for you
The only reason I do a thank you in my comment is it gives me more time to view and comment on photos.

For such a simple shot, there's actually a lot going on in this and it's really quite beautiful! (I made Pickle calendars for the whole family this year:)

@claireuk Thank you :-) I know what you mean, it was quite disconcerting! Thought I wasn't going to get back into the car without losing the door!

@maeva The smaller your aperture, the more you will get a flare or star like this. For me usually anything between f 10 - f 22 will get clear results. usually means that you will need a longer exposure time though.

@pwallis Thanks Paula! Aw, I bet Pickle calendars were well received!!
January 7th, 2012
@johnnyfrs Thank you :-) I think you might have an idea there, getting hard to catch up with everything and everyone!

@paulaag hope winds have died down now! Thanks so much for the comment!
January 7th, 2012
Thank you very much, so I keep it in mind (a small aperture from f10).
