I suspect the biggest achievement of the American blockade of Cuba is the creation of the world's largest collection of 60 year old cars still in daily use.

I was there about 15 years ago as part of an education delegation and the old cars really stood out (as did the high rate of literacy among all ages).

@taffy I had a great 11 day tour around Cuba, particularly wanting to see it before it all changes. It was so different from anywhere else I had been. Certainly not your typical Caribbean island.

Sounds like good timing as I suspect now that it's opened, the influx of money is not likely to be to maintain and renovate existing areas.
