I believe this is a Grackle. I am using my bird guide (Peterson's) as best I can. This day was overcast and I was trekking in the marsh and ended up with mud soaked shoes and my once nice pair of work pants had splatters everywhere. Into the wash machine all went! I love hearing all of the birds' mating calls, they are not only beautiful but comforting.
@kali66 I have been stopping every day on the way home to observe the osprey and the male was still parked on the nest post so I started following the chirps and the next thing I knew I was a mudder.
@kjarn I was shooting into backlight and the bird was silhouetted so when I got the image up on the screen I was surprised to see the color. Thank you!
