Alma by browngirl

Alma

A close up of one of the tower blocks which make up the Alma Estate in Ponders End, Enfield. They're supposed to be tearing the blocks down and regenerating the area. It desperately needs it as they look so grotty and unkempt.

Normal day doing Saturday things today. Boys swimming, a bit of shopping and picking up hubby's car from the the workshop.
I often look at tower blocks like these and wonder what it must be like to live in one, so surrounded on every side. Solved a housing issue at the time they were built, but they certainly were never aesthetically pleasing to look at. Nice shot.

@casablanca Funnily enough I grew up on an estate. Not a tower block but I was surrounded by other lower rise blocks and I remember having a childhood that was all about community and neighbours and friendship. Obviously though a lot of estates like this one do have their issues and the serious knife crime thankfully wasn't around when I was growing up.

Interesting. I grew up a bit further out of the City and had the same experience of community with little of the urban crime that now plagues our cities. Things have changed. Not a golden era but certainly a good one. Nice to hear your experiences.
