We had a fabulous day today. Guests at our hotel gave us their hop-on-hop-off tour bus tickets to use as they were leaving that day and it still had quite a few hours of use left on it. Tickets for the bus tour would have cost a whopping £64 for a family of four so I really appreciated it.
During the bus tour we decided to hop off to see the older part of town that houses a lot of the older buildings. This image shows the archway leading to the Radcliffe Camera which houses the Bodleian Library.
It was after walking through this archway that I notice that my iphone was missing. Aaaargh. I used my husbands phone to log into iCloud so that I can use the 'Find my Phone' facility. Through that I can see which part of the route the touring bus is at. I call the bus company. Tell them where I think I lost my phone and they tell me that it sounds like the bus is almost at the depot. I'm hoping that a passenger hasn't found it and put it in their pocket. Five minutes later I call my phone and the lady at the depot answers. Phew. That was lucky and I'm so thankful.
After collecting the phone all four of us catch a movie. Fast and Furious 8. Bloody brilliant. Absolutely loved it. We then get something to eat at the Slug and Lettuce. Yummy food.
And we then pick up our car from the free parking place that we found not far away. This was another major piece of luck as we managed to park all day without worrying about how much it would cost. Anyone who's been to Oxford will know that parking on the roadside is nigh on impossible. There's double yellows and parking permit zones everywhere. Car parks cost around £3 an hour or you can use the 'Park and Ride' service where you park your car a few miles away and then catch a bus into the city centre. This would work out more expensive for a family or four to do rather than just paying £3 an hour to park - obviously depending on how long you stay for.
So all in all, it's been a terrific day. What shall we do tomorrow?
