Germany and Austria have a custom of drinking a beer from a boot-shaped glass (German Bier Stiefel) is common in bars, beer gardens and of course a home in company. the boot holds 2 litres and if you drink it all down they say you can hold your beer. this one was a fun Christmas present for Hans. we also have lots of miniature stiefels.
Oh btw there is another picture on the back of it too. the joke on the front picture reads and I try to translate.
"if you have lots of money you can send your wife to a spa -
if you're short of money you have to sponge bath her yourself ha ha".
PS. I just got reminded that you have to drink all the beer in one draught..there you see how little a non-beer drinker knows.
that is tooo funny! here in VT, they have many 'micro' breweries. one has developed its own glasses because it claims it causes the beer to taste better. was just reading about this. is sort of bell shaped, larger at the top and i think it as a small dimple on the bottom. i want to try brewing it, sounds like lots of fun. great shot!
@grammyn He he...no I just made a pot of camomile tee..I don't like beer and Hans wasn't home to drink it..I think the gift was more of a novelty item since his friend thought of us as being Germans we would use it. it now stands up high on a cabinet in our kitchen.
@catsmeowb Interesting Camille would love to see a bell shaped glass with small dimples on the bottom. thanks for al of your comment ..you know I truly appreciate them even if I don't always say so.
Fun gift, bruni! Love the bubbles from the beer caught here. Nice colors . . I think that I'd fail that drinking test tho. A few sips would be enought for me! Cute shot. :)
@karenann Thanks for the comment..this is what I wrote to one of my followers..I copy:He he...no I just made a pot of camomile tea..I don't like beer and Hans wasn't home to drink it..I think the gift was more of a novelty item since his friend thought of us as being Germans we would use it. it now stands up high on a cabinet in our kitchen.
