Some sometime between now (10:30 PDT USA) and sunrise, there is suppose to be a meteor shows that I wanted to try my luck on. Not wanting to drive over to Allyn, wa to sit by the bay and hope for little or no light pollution, I headed for the south forty to set up my camera on the tripod, take the daylight picture so I had some foreground (maybe) to add to anything interesting the I captured, set the timer for a one hour delay, 30 second exposure, 7 seconds between shots, ISO 640, F/5.6 and bulb mode. Oh, focus the camera and put it into manual focus.
About 10:15 local, I head out to see what I can see, nothing but stars, but as I walk back to the house I hear this screeeeech coming from behind me, not very high up. Having had an angry weasel growl at me, I turned on the light, looked in the direction of the screech and up in the tree, there was this "shape". getting closer and I recognized, with my good eye, an owl sitting in the tree...Decision time, sat and stare, or tear down the camera and get the picture....what to do...tear down the camera, put it into auto, get the flash up and zoom in, tada!!!!! Post processing crop and that is it.
