Rainy and gloomy today, but still beautiful countryside on the hour drive to visit my Mom. When the skies are blue and the sun is out, the green and yellow in the fields really pop.
good old USA. :)
Northwestern WIsconsin. Near a little town I grew up by called Ridgeland WI.
Population 276.
Our address was RR 1 ( roural route 1)
We didn't have house numbers and fire numbers, just our name on the mailbox.
A country block was about 7 miles, which I rode bike around by myself when I was 7. I was often sent to the neighbors to borrow a cup of sugar, or to drop off extra eggs. :-) ahhh the good ole days.
Everyone knows everybody... I still couldn't tell you the names of the roads, although I grew up around there. Directions are more like : take a left by the Glasers house, or They live out near the Flugs, or there was an accident on Lange hill.
Sounds like a lovely place to be from. When I was nine, I moved from a city in Connecticut of about 125,000 to a town of a few thousand. And that felt small. Our blocks were about half mile long. There were two houses and an empty barn on it. But that was nowhere as rural as your town. Thanks for sharing your memories of it. They siybd quite charming.
