The gloves seller by caterina

The gloves seller

Came from Africa by boat, goiing through Lybia, to end up selling gloves on the pavement of a cold Northern Italian city. In front of a jewelry store. He told me about his wife and three children growing without him in Senegal. And cried
touching, you have to wonder if its all worth it sometimes, people get trapped.

@kali66 I asked him and he answered that in Senegal doesn't rain and agriculture is the only source of support. And in Lybia everybody was shooting because of the war and he was less afraid of drowning than of being shot. It's a terrible human tragedy

A dignified portrait and an even more moving story. How did your conversation start?

@mbrutus my hands were cold and he was selling gloves, so I bought a pair and asked him if I could take a picture. He said he was pleased, then I asked about his life and he asked a bit about mine. He didn't have many customers anyway

you have captured the underlying pain in his eyes. Such a sad story

@louisanoffke it's interesting that the pain is more evident in the picture than in nature, except when he told me about his family. Photographs seem to peek at the very soul of people
