What people used to read before smartphones were invented

A woman hands out newspapers on a Richmond street. I can almost hear my grandchildren asking "What's a newspaper Grandpa?"

Nice timing

Dear me! I'm not sure how to take this idea. I was shocked when my son told me that he has colleagues who don't know how to use a printed dictionary. It is hard to accept these things.
The photo is a very nice contemporary street scene with a story.

Great capture. Certainly something we don't see here in Edmonton

Great story telling capture, we still buy the newspaper ;-)

So true - I've often read the paper before I even get it out of the letterbox!

Totally true! We were wanting to pull down the filters above our cooker the other day and clean the back walls there and my hubby said "what we need is some newspaper to cover the cooker" and we even toyed with the idea of buying one.......that's mad, isn't it? Newspapers were a way of life. When we were first married, he always cycled down to get a Sunday Times. It took all week to read, there were so many supplements with it, but we always had it. Not done that for years now. He subscribes on iPad!

Very true. Even most of us grown ups do not read newspapers anymore and get all we want from the internet.

Wonderful bw

Great shot. We still get the Sunday paper. I make a point to share the funnies with my grandsons every week. It does seem like it is old news by the time I get it, and read it.

Great story telling capture. We still have the newspaper delivered every day.

Still the best way to read news in my opinion although its often a bit out of sinc with real events, but who cares

@delboy207 @merrelyn @pamalama @sangwann @casablanca @christinav @ludwigsdiana I stopped my newspaper subscription some time ago as it had become an overpriced ghost of its former self. I subscribe to a news service on my iPad and that, along with the morning news program on TV, gives me everything I need, and always up to the minute.

@casablanca Haha, I can totally relate to that. We have experienced similar quandaries.

Made for a neat candid b&w
