I am finally able to put together several photos in different conditions. So feel free to comment and teach me something, Please.
Upper row: indirect light (I guess not bright enough, and wb not easily controlled)
Lower row: direct light from side, (better control of light, colors are more real, especially on black)
Combination of both light types would probably be the best - dont have enough light sources at the moment.
I tried disperse light too (covered a light spot with a cloth but photos were similar to indirect light)
Black bckg is definitely choice for me, They look better and I don't need to worry about shadows.
I love black backgrounds and this shell looks good on black. The direct light gives more contrast. Often, this can be too strong, but it works well for you here.
I agree, black works better - getting rid of shadows can be a pain. I think direct light works better here too. Nice to see how you've gone about with your experimenting 😊
