Carob tree by chimfa

Carob tree

This 250 yr old tree grows in our garden. We are not allowed to remove it. It is one of 4 ( I think) trees which cannot be removed. The others being Spanish oak, Olive and Pine. The carob is a chocolate substitute and during the Civil war here many people depended on them for survival.
A beautiful capture of this awesome trunk of that very old tree. Great it has his protections. We do the same in our country with old trees.

@wordpixman there is also a story of how the weight of diamonds etc was weighed in carobs as the seeds are all the same size when fully grown. Hence carats . How true this is, I don't know. What I do know is we have some carab syrup which is deleciuos!
