Today we climbed half way up the Montgo to attend a memorial service and to see this monument that had been built there a few days ago to commemorate the crash of a Wellington that crashed close to this spot on this day 50 years ago. A very moving occasion with representatives from all three services plus families of the seven crew who lost their lives. Also there were representatives from the embassy in Madrid, the Spanish Air Force and the local Spanish people. A church service followed ( picture to follow) and a buffet lunch. A long day but so worthwhile. If you google " Wellington crash in Spain 1950" you will see a newspaper article which tells the story of the aircraft and its crew who crashed in bad weather whilst on a training flight on its way to Gibraltar. Apologies for the pov of this shot. I didn't want to intrude!
