John, do you live in Charleston? We go to Pawleys Island (and sometimes Edisto) every summer. . .Charleston is such a lovely place. . . I love the texture here of the soft crepe myrtle against the old stone steps and landing.

Yes, in Charleston. We have a long association with Folly Beach. Went there for summer beach vacations when I was growing up in New Orleans. Edisto is much more off the beaten path and so beautiful and rural. Don't know anything much about Pawleys. Charleston truly is a special place.

@congaree My brothers have a fractional ownership in a ridiculously "mansion" type place on Edisto, and you're right about it's being beautiful and rural. Pawleys is about 15 minutes south of Myrtle and has the reputation of being "arrogantly shabby!" My family has been visiting there over 70 years, so it's a very special place for us. If you are interested, take a look at my shots 8/11 - 8/18 in my main album. . .all Pawleys or close!
