Boulby Mine by craftymeg

Boulby Mine

Taken the other day, here is the place my husband worked until his retirement 3 years ago. He was here for over 40 years and was one of the longest if not the longest serving members of the workforce. It mined Potash and now is more concentrated on mining another sort of mineral. It’s tunnels go miles out under the sea and it also has a Dark matter research area thousands of feet below the surface. A pretty interesting place.
Best on black

Thank you for all your comments and favs all are much appreciated.
Fascinating. We have coal mines in our area that look similar. Did you husband go into the tunnels? That is beyond eerie to me.

I worked down a Coal Mine Margaret, and was in-charge of all the Haulages and Ropes, I finished when the Pit closed down in 1994...

Super shot - the light is great, and I appreciated your narrative. Potash is not something I know much about - must find out more.

Your husband must have had lots of guts to go down in the mines so deep into the rocks. I would never consider doing that. Thank you for the story - very interesting. Beautiful capture of the building with great lighting.

I hope he retired with his health. Mining is such dangerous work. Thanks for sharing this part of your (and his) life.
