This lovely park on the outskirts of town was formally the town graveyard, but unfortunately, ran out of space, so the Watering Hill Lane cemetery was created in the mid 1800's. All the gravestones have been removed and placed at the sides of the park. This large memorial to the Lovering family (a prominent local family) remains in its original position....just inside the gates. There was never any church on this area, but the parish church is just down the hill (Bell Tower pictured yesterday)
