Today we headed for Buckfast Abbey, a place we often visit when we are in South Devon.
We jut missed the start of the midday Mass, those in the know hurried in, we got distracted and admired the architecture, including the impressive suspended scaffolding... The Abbey is currently under going a deep, deep clean - years of candles and a lack of hoovering of high level window ledges and have taken their toll. When the Abbey was built last century they didn't have enough money to lay posh flooring everywhere, so in they are having to dig up a concrete floor and relay with stone.
No mention of the cost - but no over the top requests for money either, just a gracious reminder.
In the grounds there were various sculptures, I caught my daughter scrutinising one ambiguous piece of art, a worthy receptacle for a monologue I would say...
