Today we travelled over Hard Knott Pass, a steep single track climb providing a short cut in to the heart of the Lakes.
It is a steep winding ascent, with numerous hairpins. Near the summit we were flagged down by the car on the right, who had suffered a blowout and was desperately hoping we would have a gadget that would allow him to unlock his wheel nut. Sadly we didn't. Unfortunately he didn't appear to belong to any of the recovery services, so this would probably mean an expensive call out from a garage.
Hard Knott Pass is one the the steepest roads in England with a gradient of 1 in 3 and spectacular views over nearby peaks.
