Autumn in S. Florida by danette

Autumn in S. Florida

Who says we don't get autumn? Sometimes it comes in different months (like in the spring in my yard!). But, I saw this lovely Red Maple today and immediately saw the red leaves! Our little nod to autumn.
It looks very autumny. Great colors.

Love it. Fall is pretty subtle here...but it's sure welcome.

@bardejov It's about as colorful as we will get!

@drewhuy I was trying to tell a friend in Chicago that we got a cold front the other day (75 degrees!) but he wasn't buying it. :-)

@purdey Thank you so much, Sharon! I liked it with the palm fronds as a contrast.

A bit of a dichotomy isn't it! We are warm at the moment with highs around 70! Nights are getting down to about 38 though!

@ianwm54 Thanks, Ian. Not the colorful splash of other places, but I'll take it!

@lynnb Wow, nights at 38. Not here!

I guess I never gave it much of a thought, but I always thought trees wouldn't lose their leaves in warmer climates. But, I guess they do have an internal clock that makes it happen no matter what the temperature. Very nice composition Danette!!

@skipt07 Our seasons are very odd here. Mostly they are subtle, but there. Our decidious trees typically lose their leaves in the spring, rather than the fall, when new buds push out the old leaves. Therefore, we get the "feeling" of fall in the spring with the crunchy leaves. Some trees will turn yellow before the leaves fall. One I saw last year turned a bright golden yellow, just like northern trees! The Red Maple has red leaves, but they are young leaves that turn green as they mature. We are a bit backwards here! Thank you for your comments!!
