The University of Tampa is situated on the Hillsborough River. It originally was the Tampa Bay Hotel, built by railroad magnate Henry Plant in 1891, with the distinctive minarets. Apparently, this was popular during the Victorian era. The hotel cost $3 million to build at the time. Now, it lends an unmistakable addition to the Tampa skyline.
