@louannwarren no. The entrance is wider and you climb down stairs and ladders about 30' or so. Going out isn't as high, but the opening couldn't have been more than 30".
@danette I’m going to visit Lower Antelope Canyon via Ken’s tours. I just booked a regular tour… do you recommend a photo tour? What is the difference? Do you recommend a specific company?
@kvphoto we went on the Dixie Ellis tour. The photo tour is about 3 hours. I could not have managed that as the canyon is enclosed and sometimes narrow. We split into groups of about 10 people, walked to the canyon, descended, then slowly worked our way the mile to the exit. I had no idea what to expect! Our tour guide, Charm, was excellent. While she didn’t give us photo setting tips, she pointed out different areas and also took our picture. If I went again, I would try to get a larger area of the canyon. Obviously, there are always people around but I think you could hang back slightly since there are many curves and turns. We went early in the morning (7:15), so the sun was not high. As we got to the end, the skies were more blue. We were required to bring water.
@danette my ticket with Ken’s tours is for a one hour tour… sounds like your tour was one hour also. I looked at the Dixie Ellis tour and it sounded like a one hour tour too. How did you carry your camera? My tour said no backpacks… I have a capture clip that I can put on my belt to hold my camera… wondering how you carried water. Thanks so much for sharing the info… I’ve wanted to tour Antelope Canyon for so long now and am excited about it.
@kvphoto I just carried my camera with my strap. They do allow that (absolutely nothing else). The only time it was an issue was going down the one ladder at the entrance, but your clip would work well. I put my water bottle in my pocket. Maybe if you used a refillable one, you could also clip that to your belt? You will have a great time. I look forward to seeing your photos!
