Her last day of childhood, my daughter joined a protest of high school students who are demanding justice for black Americans. The next day she turned 18 and will vote in her first election ever (for mother's day, I asked her to register ahead of her birthday so she could vote in the June 9 election). So much going poorly in the U.S. We have let injustice go on far too long, and we have a long way to go, but I'm telling those who are grappling with the soul searching to just hurry that all on up--folks should not have to wait for equality when other folks have their knees on their necks (literally and figuratively). So, yes, vote, vote, vote as if the life you save may not be your own. Whew. Exit soap box. Proud of my daughter.
