I've been using my crockpot to make a lot of stuff these days, but I wanted a bit of a char on my bbq after the long slow cook. Took out the meat, chopped it and then broiled it on the pan before adding it back to the pot. Loved the steam from the pan after pulling it out of the oven.
If you want a great easy BBQ recipe for the crock pot, this is it!
2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken (breast or thighs)
1 15 oz. can tomato sauce
1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
2 T Worchestershire sauce
2 T brown sugar (or I use Swerve, a sugar replacement)
1 t chili powder
2 t smoked paprika
2 t garlic powder
2 t onion powder
1 t salt
cracked pepper
1 tsp cayenne pepper
Mix all that together, put in crockpot, swirl meat to be covered in sauce and cook on high 4 hours. When it's done, the chicken will naturally make pulled strands, and you can opt for a char in a broiler after, but totally not necessary!
I put a slaw with it that includes cabbage, carrots, cilantro, olive oil, limes, and onions and garlic. Or alternatively, my latest slaw obsession is same cabbage and carrots with lime juice, rice vinegar (no sugar added one), hoisin sauce, olive oil, and some cilantro.
This looks fabulous. I noticed the steam immediately which makes it such a terrific photo. Thanks for the recipe. I may give it a go although my husband really does not like chicken. Perhaps he would like this recipe
