After the man who was in my former shot turned the corner, I had my observatory tunnel to myself for a second (others were coming and going). Quality on shot is bad--I don't know what I did, but I tried to transfer photos from my laptop to the desktop and I somehow reduced the sizes. Hope it doesn't show too much here. Thanks ever so much for all the wonderful comments, favs, and wow, so excited I made it to the TT with @jyokota and @taffy for our different takes on the same sunset. That was very special. :)
The mountains really pop in color in a way that they don't in b&w...so interesting as in b&w, it's all about the railing as focal point, while in color, the railing is all about its function to see the mountains. Glad you posted them both.
@taffy Thanks. I think the BW also has the narrative element with the hiker, and I prefer that one, but I like how the color does pop here. But it demonstrates my desire for a narrative shot--that's my style I guess! So many of these shots are not processed correctly, and I really messed up with transfer. I was trying to do a short cut, so will have to back up and redo. :/
Hi Daryl!
What a super nice surprise to hear from you!
I'm good and started my own coaching practice (careerguidance and personal development) called 'Stimuloog'. I'm using my own pics as ways to get people talking. Interesting.
Wow, you're having a meet up with Taffy and Junko. Wonderful! I'm totally jealous and want to return to this great project immediately... I still love your photos. And you even won a price. Congratulations. :-) Please visit me sometimes in the Netherlands and we go searching together for some 'smoky' things (no mountains...) too ;-)
I wish you all the best and lots of inspiration. Thank you so much for your interest and message. It made my day :-)
@calm I have to say when going for shots that I know other landscape photographers do MUCH better than I can do, I try to think of some other way to get at the story. I could have spent ALL DAY alone on the observatory structure and the curves, railings, cement texture. While I love my landscapes, I'm really not very good at it in terms of vision. This is more my style.
