Sake Barrels Color and BW (LR5, Nik Collection)

Playing around with editing in Nik Collection and I took my original photo on left and make it bw in Nik and now I think I prefer it in bw. However, I see on the left that the whites are not crisp enough. The day was very overcast/rainy and the light was not good. I may take a stab at the color in the Nik color collection too.

Which do you prefer?
At first I thought the color but I do like the clarity or crispness of the B&W. In the end it depends on the purpose of the photo.

tough choice but I agree with katy, the b&w is crisper.

I think we're not comparing like-for-like here Daryl, try processing the colour version in ColourEfex Pro 4 (Tonal Contrast would be a good starting point) and then compare.

@vignouse Oh I know, I was too lazy! This was just to show what I started with in LR and how it ended up in Nik. I have finally edited the left one and decided that the detail gets lost with tonal differences (in LR5 at least), so I've posted it to my Bali/Japan album (the official one), and maybe I'll see if I can do better in the Colour Efex--thanks so much for the advice! I have only played with it a day. :)

I couldn't bear to leave the color out. It's so interesting.

It lends itself very well to b&w.

I think the colour has more character.

Really interesting

I'm so used to seeing this in full color in real life that the black and white doesn't recognizably say sake barrels to me.

The black and white has a really strong graphic, almost textural feel that I like, but the colours are really interesting if you want to capture the feel of the place you were in, so it sort of depends what you are wanting to express with the shot.
