Atlanta is expecting a huge winter storm, ice, sleet, snow, and two weeks ago we failed to plan anything at all. Now we are over planning by closing schools all day, every day...and it does not help that the schools will be out both Friday and Monday upcoming. So we are missing quite a bit of school in the end.
Atlanta does NOT have the equipment to handle ice and snow if it freezes on the roads, and I don't really care how experienced you may be in winter weather on the road, it's crazy here if the roads ice up.
Today, the roads were clear, and everyone had been told to stay home. After a quick review of the weather temps, I decided to head into town for an IKEA run. Actually, you can see the top of IKEA in this photo. It's the wall that separates the skyline from this wasteland of property. I was trying so desperately to keep it blue and the rest black and white, but my skills could not achieve it.
But I did use a graduated filter to "pull out" the sky effects and I'm pleased with the result.
Let's hope very little ice but fun in the snow. Hell, the kids are stuck to me like glue. So I'll just make the best of it for another seven days. Ugh.
Hopefully you'll get some great shots. I was in Atlanta when an ice storm hit (2005?). Had a bunch of knucklehead Floridian teenagers who'd never seen ice. Lucky we didn't lose any of them. The hotel had little food. We were in Decatur. Took the MARTA to the mall one day. They had very limited service and dropped us off in a horrible place!
Wishing you a peaceful few days with all the craziness abounding!
