Before and After

Thought people might like to see what I'm playing with in LR5. This is just a jpg image as well because I forgot to go back to RAW after the soccer game (RAW is not good for kid's sports--at least for me). The biggest hurdle in this processing was the shadow pattern to the right of her eye. I find downing the clarity slider is also very useful in giving a more soft appearance to the shot without losing some of the detail in the face. Smoothing was minimal. Loved the light.
It has made a huge difference! I haven't got LR or PS but try to make the most of the apps I do have.

Good example of processing that improves without distorting.

very pretty picture...I must say I love lightroom and use the adjustment brush a lot! I've purchased some additional brushes too and they have come in really handy...I think I have as good a time working on the photos as I do taking them!

by the way, graduated filter comes in handy for these corrections as well!

@jackies365 I have just discovered the adjustment brush! And I've been playing a long time. It is a bit wonky, and I really should watch some tutorials. I first had to clone the shadow and then work with the brush. I downed the overall carity and did a radial filter on the face and the adjustment brush. I have been doing the slider left on the clarity and then using the radial filter to reverse the effect on the parts I want the clarity. So many options! I think this did ok!

@jackies365 Yes, that was my former method originally with backgrounds and then I used the radial filter exclusively. Never tried the brush until this week.

Fabulous processing. This really inspires me to get to grips with LR.

Wow what a difference! You have really got to grips with LR! I must get back to working with it as there seems to be so many possibilities! Your daughter is beautiful and this is a gorgeous portrait! Fav!

Thank you for posting this. I've used LR for a few years now, but when you said "brush" I didn't know what you meant, so I watched a few tutorials. I've been using the "brush" but learned there was a lot I was missing with functionality of various tools. I ooo'd and aaah'd for a few hours and can't wait to play a bit. Thank you! Oh ... I love the processing! You really brought out a lovely glow in her skin and brought attention to her lovely eyes.

The processing has made such a positive difference. Her face is glowing with health on the right, and the shadows have been lifted so well. I might need to contact you for LR lessons!

Okay! I'm impressed! I would love to be able to do something like this but I'm not smart enough! Plus I don't have LR!

Thanks for showing us the before and after too! It is so much easier to know what you have done by seeing that before shot!
