After physical therapy tonight I stopped by a local fishing hole, and I got a chuckle watching this guy. He was all dressed for the occasion, and I'm sure he had plans on hooking the big one. I stood on the bridge and watched him as he made his way into the water, carefully planting each step before the other. Poor guy had no idea I was standing back there watching and taking his photo. Even though I got a chuckle out of watching him, there was a lesson to be learned in this situation. He did not fall. How often do we jump into situations without thinking? How often have we found ourselves in a situation that could have been avoided if only we had taken the time to think before jumping in with both feet? I'll admit, sometimes there's no harm done, but then other times, well, we all know how it goes. I've been there and done that. Uploading a little early tonight because I am off to another evening meeting at work. Have a wonderful evening.
He is being careful....hope he got some fish.
have you heard or has anyone information about Louis and Ken?
my e-mail didn't not come back as failure notice so she must have received it.
LOVE your words and what you had to say. Your right, sometimes we just have to take a few extra seconds before we "jump into" something. So true.
you can really tell he is taking his time getting into the water and trying to keep steady by sticking out his left arm for balance. great shot.
Nice shot, Rick. I think there's evidence of "preparation" here, too! Yeah, I've jumped in with both feet a time or two, not seeing the bottom and thinking the water was deep…
great pic as always rick.
and good point about jumping in with both feet. ahh the good ole days. hehe. i have become a little more cautious in my old age.
Great capture Rick! My brother's a fisherman so I got a kick out of this. You made a good point about watching our steps. I'm glad this guy didn't fall in.
I am always jumping before I should...sometimes it is good...but most often, not so good. Thank you for always giving us something to think about. AMAZING talent you have.
I giggled out loud when I first saw this...you can see how cautious he is being but as you say, there is nothing wrong with that. I like how your shot caught his sense of caution. Good one !!
@nikkers Sometimes I would agree, because there are times when it is just as much fun trying to get out of trouble as it is getting in. And for some of us it is easy to find trouble, right Nikki?
:) Love the perspective, will admit that while I was looking at the thumbnail waiting for the bigger picture to open, I was trying to decide if you'd photographed a toddler - same care with walking.
oh, I do that a lot! But, I'm trying to be better about that careful weighing of the options and footing thing...it's just not nearly as exciting as running headlong into something. That's me though, and I would not recommend it for everyone. How is your hand doing? I hope pt is going well.
@hellcat Actually, the hand is coming along nicely. The therapist told me tonight that he is truly impressed with the range of motion I have already regained. I just completed my 6th session. It is amazing how the different muscles are affected by some of the simplest stretching exercises. Today I experienced a few incidents that felt like lightning bolts shooting up my arm, all from some new exercises last night. I am well pleased. thanks fro asking.
That's great news! It sounds as though you'll be back to normal before you know it. I'm actually sorry I didn't ask sooner. I've been meaning to, but then ... poof, it's out of my head.
