I don't know what it was like where you are, but it was gloomy and rainy all day here. After supper I went for a little walk and I came upon this old fence and rail. I liked how the post looked, all rough and worn, giving it a wonderful aged look. Since it was grey and cloudy with periods of rain, I thought I would do it in B/W.
For those of you interested, my posting of the old book yesterday turned up some good feedback. Apparently it is an old German text book out of a series. The title appears to be, The Golden Library...Education and Knowledge. For Self Study and Training in the Major Branches of Knowledge and Language. I am going to search for someone in the area who may be able to tell me a little more about it. I appreciate everyone's feedback on the book. Have a great evening.
Rainy, gray, raw weather here in NH. I appreciate the fact you went out walking despite the gloomy weather AND you took a fabulous picture. Love the simplicity...especially in b&w !
You know, when I first looked at this I *saw* a cross and thought that you would lead us to see it through your comments...you know how some of us think you would make a good preacher...guess it was the power of suggestion that made me see that cross! (But it is a nice fence post ;-)
i love B/W shots.. they add a whole new meaning to the picture... Love this one, even though its a simple post, it looks like its been through a lot.. :)
Love this post of a simple weathered post. Very clever title. It's been raining here for so many days I've lost count. I keep looking for black and white moments (inspired by you), but I haven't found any yet.
I don't know if this is old, but I live in a very old farm town where posts like this are everywhere. I think it's fascinating how people made things like that, especially houses! Thanks for sharing!
I agree with everyone , the textures are wonderful, you want to reach out & touch it !! Glad you had a bit of feedback re your book, I thought someone would be able to help on 365 !!
Truly an emotive capture! You are going to put all of you wonderful B&W photographs into a photo book, right? Tell me when it is ready so I can buy a copy.
Nice shot, at first I thought it was an old cross. B&W is perfect. We had a beautiful sunny day in Seattle. I am very familiar with this type of day...Ha.
love the capture... very nice entry....
