This is one of my favorite pieces. I searched for several years for an old wash stand after my Grandmother gave me her pitcher and wash basin. Many wash stands have been refinished and hardware replaced. I was so pleased when I came across this one. It is still in its original finish, has all original hardware, and still has its original towel rack. When we bought this piece, it came with a matching dresser which we use in our bedroom. As you know, I love old things, but in particualr, I really like old furniture. Old furniture has such charm and personal quality.
The two chicken on a nests are vintage items two. Just a few extra items that came along for the ride. Have a nice Friday, and yeah! Long weekend.
@allie912 Allison, actually that was bought at a nearby country fabric store. I do have my Grandmother's large, handmade lace table cover though. That is very intricately detailed, and some of hger hand stitched doilies. .
Love old furniture too! It was built so much better. My father restores old items he finds -- it's therapeutic for him, and when I'm lucky, he passes it on to me. This is a great find. It's beautiful.
What a lucky find and beautiful antique. I've always liked wash stands/basins and have never gotten one. I keep seeing them in antique stores and think, "some day..." Beautiful photo
I'm with you on liking old furniture...it is just so homey and comforting to me! Oh, and lace...I love that too! Guess I should have been born during the Victorian era...then again, maybe not. I do like modern conveniences!
Wasn't that worth the wait?!! Beautiful! Living where you do, antiques suit the homes, and you're fortunate to have family pieces for decoration. Long down the road, you likely have a grand daughter who'll carry on the tradition...nice!
You have done so well in the theme this week & here is another great entry ! Lots of story behind this old washstand & the little chickens are cute too !
Nice theme shot!
