I came across this article today about a new app that will allow your facebook friends to purchase prints, mugs and other items with your photos on them all with OUT your permission!
Thanks for the information Leah. This is one reason why I ditched Facebook over a year ago. I will pass it on to my colleagues though - they will be very interested.
I've never been on Facebook and the more I here about it, the gladder I am for that decision.
Friends/relatives keep bugging me to join, but I've always refused. Call me, email me, text me...but don't Facebook me. ;-)
God that's lame... I've blocked the app and already had My photos not ticked in my 'What can apps access' privacy settings (in fact, I had nothing ticked there).
I wonder how it affects facebook Pages... I have a photography Page and so I wonder if this app can access my photos there. I found no way to block apps from a facebook Page so I'm wondering whether/hoping that blocking it from my personal profile will filter down to my Page.
I "unchecked" photos from what people can access for apps, but one of my additional facebook accounts could still order prints from my folders. So I just blocked the entire application, which seems to have done the trick. Here is a quick video on how to block the application: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-820S8sslh4&feature=youtu.be
@pocketmouse I'm pretty sure I subscribe to your photo page; neither you nor your page comes up when I run the app so I'd say they are probably blocked. Someone else could try to verify that to be sure though!
@kjarn If you still can see what the video says here are some directions:
1. Go to your "Account Settings" (under the gear in the top right corner of the blue bar)
2. When in account settings you will see "Blocking" (with a red circle with minus symbol in the center) in the far left column under "facebook"
3. On Manage Blocking page: at the bottom of the page type "Photos at my Door" in the "block app" section
