The word "selfie" is degrading and most of the those shots are not good photography. The article is correct that it is common and so it is not creative or unique.

I noticed former Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd use the term 'selfie' when posing with a young lady at the shopping malls yesterday on the news earlier.

@gwhit123 Is not the correct term "self-portrait?" "Selfie" sounds narcasistic.
