A bit extreme. I assume he has come hot foot from the volcano to process his pics and even if his tripod wasn't carbon before hand, it was afterwards.

I was assuming a little bit of alcohol or lighter fluid on the tripod legs and shoes.

I forget where I read this, but it was a special flint system in his shoes and on the legs of the tripod.
