How do I...

lighten/change the color of dark brown eyes in a photo?

I've been able to do it with light eyes, but when I try doing it with my own dark brown eyes, it looks ridiculously fake. Tips/advice?

@wahyusp Haha, I was thinking more like Photoshop.

@itszaiii Try making a new layer, swap to colour mode and paint over the iris in the new layer with a really weird colour at first to see the effect fully.

Then hit ctrl+U and use the hue/saturation and lightness controls to change it to how you like it.

Jinx did this tutorial which I really love and I use it for dark eyes often to bring them out. I just adjust the opacity level and it can get a great natural effect....

@wahyusp @killerjackalope @silverhorn

I experimented with layering and colors on Picnik, since I have photoshop only at work. I can't seem to get this right.

@itszaiii I'm just noticing how very dark they are - that'll be contributing to the unnatural look issue - if you bring out the iris details first it should look a bit better...
