I think adding type to photos can look really nice when executed correctly. Too often I see people throw text all over an image, and it completely distracts form the picture. What you did is the right thing to do, in my humble opinion. The negative space in the image and text complement each other, rather than distract. It looks like it should be in a magazine or something :)
