I have taken this photo: http://s1218.photobucket.com/albums/dd409/mej2011/
almost everyday since this project started. I really love the old look of the shed but I have no idea what to do with the photo once I have captured it. I have run almost every editing option available on Photoscape on this photo and I can't find anything I like. If you had taken this picture, what sort of editing would you do to make it look better?
I second Ross and Bruni's comments. The tree is overpowering the shed. Do what Ross Said, different angles (low, high etc...) and make sure your focus is on the shed itself and not other elements in the photo..... Speaking of which, also make sure that other things in the photo support the image you are trying to make instead of distract. Once you have a good base photo the editing should come a lot easier.
@bruni Thanks for the suggestion, I should have posted the cropped picture instead of the original. I didn't care for the cropped version, felt like something was missing. Perhaps only because I know the tree is supposed to be there. I will try cropping again. @rossco088 & @sfd084 Thank you for your responses. Once the weather is more cooperative with my wheelchair (as snow and wheelchairs don't mix) I will get outside and see what I can come up with. ( I had just been taking the photo from inside my home.) @indiannie_jones I am sorry but I do not understand your reference. @hjvanriper Unfortunately I am not only new to photography but also editing so I have no idea what HDR is.
I agree with the suggestions of taking other shots of the shed, especially at different angles. Cropping would help too. Other suggestions: take the shot at various times of day for different lighting, change the contrast and/or the brightness when editing, and/or take some shots with camera held horizontally and some with camera held vertically.
@mej2011 are there any other windows in your home that have a different view of the shed? Also Try what @daisy mentioned, different times of day, Especially sunset / rise as you can get some really dramatic colors. Or try a night shot with a longer exposure, (you'd need to use a tripod or something to keep the camera steady) Have you tried B/W?
