I am now the proud owner of a telescope - a Celestron 70 - and I spent about 5 hours trying to figure out how to use it with my camera a couple of nights ago. During my trials and tribulations, I figured out I had an incorrect mount (it wasn't an equatorial mount) - so I am getting it replaced.
While waiting for the new mount, I would be interested in any tips/guidance than more experienced astro-photgraphers may have for a beginner. Set up tips, configuration variables, accessories, software, any post processing guidelines ... anything you think may be useful to know.
Perhaps even a title of a good book to purchase/read?
Thanks in advance.
I did manage to take this image though - looking forward to experimenting some more!
This was shot through a telescope using a point and shoot Canon camera....thinking of getting a mount for my larger camera so I can shoot deep space objects. Love your shot!
HI Miguel! Love the shots! And Congratulations on getting a telescope!! This is the best time of year in the UK for stargazing, I could bore you for hours if you like....!
I have a telescope and a little point-and-shoot but love trying to put the two together! I have taken a few shots but this one is probably my best - I included some spiel on how I did it. One tip I heard was to remember it is daylight on the moon so not to use a 'night-time' setting. Looking forward to seeing some more shots from you!
Hi again! Just remembered, I took a photo of Jupiter which didn't come out very well but Moony took some wonderful shots including this one... -+++++++++
You'll probably pick up some technical tips from his shots? Also Rachel @raebell took some wonderful moon shots - mostly in her 2nd album I think. Enjoy! :_
@sixthblade your shot is awesome - how do you take a shot through the telescope. I am going to make my hubby get his out, glad he just bought his telescope a new lens!!!
