I was just wondering what does it really consist in to follow someone.
I'm following about 80 people, to inspire me, and usually just because i like their shots. I'm putting just positive reactions on photos I like.
But are you commenting on every single photography of everyone that you follow? Because that should be the point of following someone I think. Or just on the pictures you like?
The more follows you get, the more difficult it is to keep up on a daily basis, but I do try to comment on as many as I can and not necessarily because I have a positive reaction to the photo. Due to time constraints I tend to comment more on photos of the followers who comment on mine. That's also partly because we've developed a sort of "friendship" over time, and I love the interaction.
I myself dont tend to comment on every photo of someones album, that in itself would take too much of my time! 80+ comments a day. I only place comments on peoples photos that I like! For most of the people I follow I try to look at their albums, however ive found the more people you follow the harder it is to keep track of their albums. I dont know if you have noticed but for me not all new photos uploaded by people I follow appear on my home page. Oh well, cant win em all!
If I follow someone I do make a point to comment on their photos, but some of us with three albums can get a bit time consuming. I spend the time going back through all of their albums so they may get 10 comments from me once a week but it may not be on every photo. Some days we just do not take the most interesting photos. I also go through the people that follow me every couple of weeks to make sure that I comment on their photos also.
I also go through about once a month to assess each person I follow to see if they are still active, am I still inspired by them, are they following and commenting on my stuff, I try to keep my follows manageable because it really takes dedication and time.
I just started 365 and I follow those whose pictures inspire me. So I try to comment on the ones who capture my attention. I do comment on others though in the discussions, themes etc, even if I dont follow them.
I dont want to comment for the sake of commenting and I hope people dont do that to me. This is our own project and we can be inspired by others but if I comment on every photo of everyone I am interested in I would not be taking any photos- I look at the feed and go to those that interest me.
I don't comment on every single photo -- but I do comment on the ones that catch my eye, or move me in some way....which is a lot of them! One tip I will pass on to you though: when you are looking at your home page, with all the thumbnails of the photos down the left side, and the partial descriptions -- right click on EACH photo and open it in a new tab. That way, even if you find that you don't have something to say about the photo, at least your "view" has been counted. Then you can close out of the separate photo tab, and go back to your home page without losing your place in the long list of photos!
I try to comment on as many as I can based on time. I feel that people who are taking phenomenal photos already know that and need little encouragement. There is something captured in everyone and worth the time to find it if I follow them.
