I'm noticing that lately the golden hour sun has been dreary gray (both in the morning and late afternoon). I was hoping to catch some of the snow in the nice light, but when there's snow it's been gray. Is my hope in vain? Is there a good time to get nice light with snow? In preparation for the next time it snows, I want to be educated.
Do you have a reflector? You could always bounce light back onto your subject (if it's a person for a snow portrait) and then warm it up in one of the editing programs. Otherwise, you'll just have to wait till the sun comes out. :o)
ah I totally get what you're saying. Over the summer and fall I got in the habit of shooting during golden hour a lot of the time and now winter is killing me. The best I've been able to do is shoot in the early afternoon and do things like mess with the white balance and curves to give things a warmer look. :-\
I have a phone app called Golden Hour. It gives you an idea of the "best light" times, but as we all have seen you can have great light all times of day.
Not that I would not about that of course. Just saying.
@grecican @azza_l I now have soda on my computer screen because of you two. Laughed so hard
