I have almost been on this site for a year, and have yet to really find anyone that is interested in the same kind of photography that I am. Dont get me wrong all of the artsy stuff out there is still really awesome and cool but just is not my passion. So if you are into looking at/capturing the split second of high Adrenalin action leave a comment. lol
Here are some of my fav action shots of 2012 so far.
Hey Cade - I love your action shots. There is a skate park nearby that I am waiting on the city to let me know if I can just go shoot whoever or if I need specific releases of some kind. There is also a new jet ski park in my town that I'm looking into as well. I shoot highschool football when a pass is available, but nothing action-y all the time. Keep up the good work!
@sdpace for the skate park just go and talk to the people that are riding/skating there. they are usually up for getting picture of them. you just need to maybe find out if there is a safety/liability form you just need to fill out and sign your life away lol
@cvanheel i love taking action shots too, i just don't have that many options. my cousin playing water polo has been fun, and so has soccer (mostly i just practice on my dogs)! I was wondering, in a couple of your photos it looks like there is less light, and I was wondering how you were able to get a sharp image with still letting enough light in...my indoor action shots (ie. basketball) always are blurry.
@sdpace that's funny, there's a skate park where I'm at....keep meaning to go there on a nice day but it seems like this work thing always happens on the nice days! I'll get there soon though!
Heidi Gurov (@hmgphotos) doesn't shot a lot of sports action for this project but I know her profile says that she's a professional freelance photogrpaher who specializes in automotive and motorsports photography. Here's one of her shots:
I would love to be an action photographer but really struggle with it. I so want a faster lens. Below is one of my “could have been really get shots” but ISO up so high due to light. You need to check out Giffy http://365project.org/giffy/365 Really good indoor shots.
I do indeed professionally shoot motorsports, but don't post up much in my project (especially since it's in the dead season, it being winter and stuff). I've also done some work with MMA and rodeo. I was going to start shooting gymnastics this winter, but all the meets have fallen on days I have school stuff going on :(
Aside from the hockey games I coach at, I haven't really taken anything since I started this project. But I have tons of fun stuff, especially with skateboarders and the fisheye lens that I've taken in previous years and would love to do again and add to my 365.
He has some great sports action shots
I've also photographed a local boxing comp before, but not this year ( http://www.flickr.com/photos/krisarnoldphotos/sets/72157627788881961/).
All of have... but on my to-do list for this year
